Method:

  • Take a saucepan add in 1 cup for milk you can use almond milk cognate make or make rice milk or even soy milk.
  • Once the milk starts to boil add in half tsp turmeric powder .
  • Now give it a mix and then add in one fourth teaspoon freshly crushed pepper
  • Add 1/ 4 TSP ghee or coconut oil.
  • Now bring this to a boil and mix and simmer for a minute and switch off the flame.
  • Now the trick to make the milk frothy and bubbly pour the milk from a little distance into the pan .
  • Repeat this again from a little distance to the same sauce pan repeat this for three to four times and you can see how the make is becoming frothy.
  • By doing this will help the heat to come down and also the ingredients will be well mixed because the temperature has come down it can be consumed immediately.
  • Now pour this into a glass mug.
  • Use a glass mug or clay mug instead of plastic mugs as they melt the plastic .
  • It is a great warmer in the monsoons and in winter turmeric powder warms up the body.
  • Pepper helps the active ingredient in turmeric to absorb faster into the body.
  • Coconut oil or ghee acts as a lubricant to the joints and if you have a sore throat he given melt and quoted throat and relieves from cough.
  • To add sweet add palm sugar or honey.
  • But if adding honey make sure that the milk is not too hot but warm honey should not be added to hot food or very cold food.

Amla juice ( Indian Gooseberry Juice )

Ingredients:

  • 2 big sized amla
  • 1/2 lemon
  • Small piece of ginger
  • Sugar or country sugar( nattu sakkarai in tamil)
  • 1 tsp honey
  • A pinch of salt

Juice preparation:

  • Cut the amla into small pieces.
  • Remove the seed inside the amla.
  • Peel the skin off the ginger.
  • Cut it into small pieces too.
  • In a mixer grinder add the amla and ginger.
  • Grind into smooth paste.
  • Transfer the ground amla and ginger in a big bowl.
  • Add 2-3 glasses of water ( as per taste).
  • Squeeze the lemon and add the juice into the amla mixture.
  • Add honey and sugar.
  • Add the pinch of salt too.
  • Mix well until the sugar dissolves.amla-juice2

Tips:

  • Drink the juice with the pulp for more benefit.
  • Or strain the juice .
  • For children serve the strained juice.

Amla Jam for anemia

Amla or Indian Gooseberry is said to one of the best for treating anemia.

Mostly anemia is due to deficiency of calcium and iron in the body. Hence most of the young generation are seem to get tried and drained out easily by middle of the day. For anemia constant supply of iron and other vitamins will cure the tiredness and gives energy for the body the whole day.

 

Amla is very good remedy for anemia as it is very rich in Vitamin C and Iron . Amla Jam is very easy to make and very good for health too.

For making the Amla Jam

 

Ingredients:

½ kg of Amla \

Cardamon – 4-5

Jaggery – ½ kg ( for more sweetness add more jaggery)

Ginger or dried ginger – a big piece.

  • Boil the amla in water .
  • When cooked well cut the amla and remove the seed.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Remove the skin of the cardamom seed .cardamom
  • In a mixer grinder take 2- 3 tsp of sugar and add the cardamom seeds and grind it into powder.
  • Grate the jaggery .
  • Boil the jaggery in a little water in a separate pan along with ginger root or the dried ginger.
  • After boiled strain the jaggery juice in a bowl so that all the sand and other impurities are removed. Keep aside.
  • Grind the boiled amla in a mixer jar.
  • Now bring the jaggery liquid to a medium heat in a pan .
  • Slowly add the amla paste to the jaggery and keep stirring.
  • After a min add the cardamom mixture and keep stirring.
  • When it comes to a consistency of a jam ( a little bit stringy)remove from heat.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • When cold shift the jam to a air tight jar.
  • Amla jam has atleast 6 months of shelf life.
  • It is very easy to make and you can prepare it in within ½ hr.

 

Tips:

  • Sugar can be used instead to jaggery.
  • But jaggery is more healthy than sugar.
  • Honey can be added at the end.

Take a thick brush and apply the pack over the neck and let it set for 15 mins. Wipe it off with warm water . As lemon is a natural bleaching agent and sandalwood powder and milk lightens the skin colour these ingredients are very good for removing the dark skin and lightens the skin and gives a glowing colour.

1. Mash two or three slices of papaya in bowl.
2. Add one tea spoon of lemon juice.
3. Save the skin of the lemon.
4. Apply the mixture around the elbow.

Fried Lady’s finger

  • Cut the lady’s finger into small pieces.
  • You need a thick pan to fry the lady’s finger as it takes some time to cook.
  • Heat  a thick pan and add 5 tsp of oil.
  • Add a few mustard seeds to the oil .
  • When splatters add curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida.
  • Add the cut lady’s finger and saute well.
  • When it discharges the gel add 2 tsp of sour curd and mix well.
  • You can add 1 tsp of lemon juice instead of the curd.
  • Saute well until the gel is completely gone in low flame.
  • Later add salt as per taste.
  • Saute until the vegetable is fully cooked.
  • Add shredded coconut to it and cook in low flame for a minute.

  4. Take 1 tsp of honey in a small bowl.
    Dip a soft facial tissue and rub it over your lips in a circular motion for 1 min.
    Take a another wet tissue and wipe the honey off the lips.
  5. To keep the lips moist take 2- 3 tsps of tomato juice in a small bowl and massage it over the lips.
  6. If Allergic to any of the ingredients which are mentioned above try  aloe vera gel .Take the gel of the aloe vera and just apply the gel over the lips in circular motion .Rinse off with warm water.
